Typically, the intellectual property due diligence process accompanies an investment or acquisition of company assets and is comprised of both an assessment of strength of a company's IP portfolio, as well as an assessment of the risk to a company's freedom to operate in specified business operations. Lung cancer is the second most prevalent form of cancer in the United States and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and women. According to the National Cancer Institute, the overall mortality rate for lung cancer steadily increased throughout the 1980s and peaked around 1990. Implimenting State and National Tax Provisions - October 27-28, 2008 - a BayBio event - California
Two significant national and state provisions directly impact growing life sciences companies and merit special discussion. The first is a provision within the federal housing package signed in late July, allowing companies to utilize accumulated R&D or AMT credits in lieu of bonus depreciation to which they would have otherwise been entitled.
