Prescience International created the San Jose BioCenter in 2004, making it the first of many Prescience Innovation Centers where emerging companies get a "big company advantage". With Class A, state-of-the-art lab facility featuring both fully equipped core research and business space, but also individual modular wet lab suites with accompanying office and dry lab space, and world class facility operational services and business commercialization support, the BioCenter attracts and maintains a balanced and diversified portfolio of companies at various stages of development from early stage companies to companies that have done multiple deals for up to $375M. In fact, the BioCenter has created such a global appeal that 25% of the companies at the BioCenter come from outside California, most of which are from other countries. At the BioCenter, Prescience supported over 95 companies, facilitated the creation of nearly 1000 jobs and over $2B of growth capital, thereby creating real economic and social impact. Over the past eight years, Prescience grew the BioCenter to what Forbes Magazine called "the best of its kind" and won several industry awards and accolades including NBIA Incubator of the Year, Best Science-Based Incubator and Harvard's Bright Ideas Program. The Prescience Innovation Center model has been customized and replicated across other industries such as cleantech and new regions, including San Diego. After many years of significant growth, Prescience has positioned the San Jose facility for continued success under direct management of the landlord.
